Who are we?

Cancer Buddies Network is a website that went live in August 2006. It was created by Jan who experienced cancer in 2001.

Jan drew huge comfort from being able to walk through every stage of her journey hand in hand with someone else in exactly the same situation.

The aim of this website is to give to others what Jan found so vital in helping her recovery and to getting her through the good and bad times along the way. The objective of Cancer Buddies Network (CBN) is to help everyone find that special buddy on the internet for the purpose of sharing, caring and supporting each other through the ups and downs of their personal experiences.

This site welcomes everybody, there are no barriers. We all need love and understanding on what is possibly the most important journey of our lives.

We support users, carers, friends and relatives in their quest for companionship as they travel along their own road, or watch a loved one taking the trip.

Let us help you find the cancer support you need – come in and meet your cancer buddy right here, right now!

To read more about Jan’s own journey and the birth of CBN, please click the buttons on the right of this page. There are also stories from her husband, daughters, sister and a friend and how they were affected at the time.

I joined CBN at the beginning of December 2007. I joined in desperation because my husband had to have his stomach removed because of cancer. I was at my wits end and needed to speak to someone who had experienced the same thing. I did find a Buddy and I can't say how much my Buddy has helped both myself and my husband. Without the understanding and passing on to us the experiences of my Buddy who had the same operation I would still be at square one. We have had help with diet and all the quirky aches and pains that we used to panic about. Now we know all the things that are normal after the operation and during the recovery period. Plus for the first time I felt I wasn't alone, someone understood. This is just to say a big thank you to my 'Best Buddy' and thanks to you all at CBN.
